Flight-ready valves are now available through Romar engineering. Romar has a family of valves including cryogenic, oxidizer and vernier valves that have been tested and commissioned for use in aerospace applications. Working in conjunction with various aerospace companies, Romar’s family of fluid and motion control valves have been thoroughly tested and validated for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) sales.
Romar’s cryogenic valves are rated to -200°C and play a vital role in rockets that use cryogenic fuels, such as liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen. Our line of check valves meets the demand for high flow valves with the ability to command flow shutoff at cryogenic conditions.
Features include sleeve architecture provides low pressure drop (high flow capacity) relative to line size. They are available as an ambient temperature valve with replacement seals only. Additional configurations are available for: crack pressure, fluid port connections, and seal materials.
Materials
Housing – AM Inconel
Sleeve – AM Iconel
Spring – Stainless steel
Seals – Spring energised seals Vespon Viton
Bushings – PTFE
Oxidizer valves are essential for engines that use liquid propellants, such as liquid oxygen (LOX) and nitrogen tetroxide (NTO). These valves control the oxidiser flow from the storage tank to the combustion chamber, which reacts with the fuel to produce thrust.
Romar produces COTS Oxidizer valves to meet high flow demands with the ability to command flow shutoff. Applications of pneumatic pressure increase crack pressure up to 1.45 MPa, or provide shutoff for inlet pressures up to 0.9 MPa (131psi) with force margin.
The 2.5″ base unit is a sleeve valve with integral bushings to provide high-reliability sealing and life.
Features include:
Sleeve architecture provides low pressure drop (high flow capacity) relative to line size.
Additional configurations for available for crack pressure, fluid port connections, and seal materials.
TRL 6 – demonstrated operation in system ground test.

Housing – Aluminium
Sleeve – Aluminium
Spring – Stainless steel
Seals – Viton
Bushings – PTFE
Romar’s COTS vernier valves are small control valves used to finely adjust the thrust vector control (TVC) system. The TVC system is responsible for adjusting the rocket engine’s thrust direction, allowing for precise maneuvering and orientation of the spacecraft.
Romar produces a product line of motor driven ball valves with a range of flow characteristics and flow shutoff at low throttle for fluid control. The design emphasises a simple architecture to maximise reliability and life cycle. With integral mounting feet, the assembly integrates smoothly into the system.
Features include:
Integrated sealing for shutoff at zero throttle position.
Additional configurations are available for: flow characteristics, fluid port connections, mounting arrangement and seal materials.
TRL 6 – Demonstrated operation in system ground test.
