Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence

Woman checking status of machine

Romar has opened a new facility in Sefton NSW, expanding our capability and resources. The new facility is Romar’s advanced manufacturing centre of excellence, incorporating Australia’s only metal 3D printing powder to production line in a completely climate-controlled environment for metal AM, 5-axis CNC, and CMM inspection.

The new facility dramatically enhances Romar’s capability, offering customers commercial and bespoke solutions for space fluid and motion controls for cryogenic through to high temperature and pressures up to 100MPa. The advanced manufacturing centre of excellence ensures fully integrated project management, product lifecycle management, part manufacturing, component assembly and test for fluid and motion control, with an integrated quality management system in all production operations.

Design and manufacturing capabilities

Engineering – Design, design for manufacture (AM & CNC), finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics, project and project management and inspection.

Metal AM – Laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) up to 245x245x300mm, laser direct deposition up to Ø 600mmx450mm.

Materials – L-PBF – Inconel 718, stainless steel 316L, titanium 6AI-4V Gr23, + more
– L-DED – Inconel 625 + 178, stainless steel 316L, Cu-AI bronze, metal composites + more

Machining – Full CAM programming for on-site 5-axis simultaneous milling, 3-axis milling and multitasking lathe optimised for machining critical metal additive parts.

Inspection – Profile scans and dimension reports within 0.1μm accuracy.

Testing – Materials: hardness, tensile, low cycle fatigue, + more through academic partners. Components: pressure to 100MPa, cryogenic to – 200C, burst, + more
