In late 2020, we introduced our newest intern, Hayden McLaughlin. For Hayden, the appeal of interning with Romar was the chance to experience first-hand the breadth of our manufacturing expertise across areas including advanced manufacturing, elastomers, silicone products and medical device manufacturing,
Our capability is thanks to decades of experience, state-of-the-art technology, and a world-class team of engineers, manufacturing and materials experts.
We’re now very pleased to advise that having completed his internship, we’ve welcomed Hayden to join the team in a permanent role.
Hayden completed a three-month internship with Romar as part of his Mechanical Engineering studies at Macquarie University.
He was introduced to Romar by Morgan Wagner, another Romar intern and Macquarie University graduate.
He has now followed Morgan into a full time Manufacturing Engineer role with Romar. Hayden is based in our production department, where he monitors manufacturing procedures and practices to ensure we deliver our robust manufacturing solutions efficiently and to the highest standards. As an avid problem solver, Hayden is a perfect fit.
“I have a distinct passion for engineering. I’ve always really liked getting my hands dirty and I particularly enjoy solving problems,” says Hayden.
During his internship, Hayden rotated through several departments including clean room manufacturing, elastomers and quality control. He also worked in advanced manufacturing, testing rubber and metal bonding, and assisted with our design for manufacture.
Hayden explained at the time: “The whole team is incredible. I’m working closely with Sean (Emery, Manufacturing Engineer) plus Das and Ian, the machinists. They all have a huge amount of knowledge.”
That shared knowledge has given Hayden the perfect grounding to join our team and contribute to our leading manufacturing solutions for the aerospace, mining, medical, defence and other sectors.
“It’s really satisfying to be able to work on problems and to be part of such an efficient team,” says Hayden. “I feel like I really belong here and can make a contribution, which is great.”
