Romar has developed a set of flight-ready valves for extreme environments. Our commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) valves are now available directly from Romar Engineering: cryogenic, oxidiser and vernier flight-ready valves, manufactured in Australia, meet the international specifications for aerospace applications, including spacecraft assembly.
Romar’s engineers have developed and tested three primary valves. Our cryogenic valves are manufactured from AM Inconel with a stainless steel spring and are rated to -200°C. Specific to cryogenic fuels, including liquid hydrogen and liquid nitrogen, they feature a sleeve architecture for low-pressure drop relative to line size.
The Romar oxidiser valves are purposely designed and manufactured for engines that use liquid oxygen, hydrogen peroxide, or Rocket Propellant 1 (RP-1). Constructed from high-grade aluminum and stainless steel, the Romar oxidiser valves meet high flow demands with the ability to command flow shutoff. The sleeve architecture provides low-pressure drop (high flow capacity) relative to line size and additional configurations are available for crack pressure, fluid port connections and seal materials.
Our Vernier valves are constructed from high-grade aluminum and stainless steel with Viton seals and PTFE bushings. The simple architecture maximises reliability and life cycle. With integral mounting feet, the assembly integrates smoothly into the system and additional configurations are available for flow characteristics, fluid port connections, mounting arrangement and seal materials.
Romar has built a team of engineers who are specialists in the aerospace sector. Our management culture empowers our teams to collaborate and share their knowledge and ideas. We understand that our COTS valve solutions will positively impact the progression of the aerospace industry here in Australia and internationally.
At Romar, we don’t want to build rockets, we want to build parts of rockets, and our investment in equipment, testing, expertise, and research and development has enabled us to safely manufacture a family of flight-ready compliant valve components that are available commercially off the shelf, directly from our advanced manufacturing centre of excellence in Sydney.
By bringing the best engineers, designers and material scientists together and equipping them with the latest technology, Romar has established itself as a leading manufacturer of aerospace components and continues to innovate scalable solutions to meet the increasing demand.
We work closely with aerospace companies, and as a contract manufacturer, we have a thorough understanding of the aerospace sector and the manufacture of specialised components that are scalable, cost-effective and compliant.
Romar’s capability influences a wide variety of industries, and the design and manufacture of COTS valves for fluid-propelled rockets extends to solving the full portfolio of fluid and motion control problems.
